Job Description

Our lab is seeking students to assist in the maintenance of our zebra fish colony and assisting with lab experiments. The duties consist of maintaining a brine shrimp hatchery, feeding fish, maintaining aquaria including salt and pH regulation and monitoring, scrubbing parts and individual tanks, and keeping accurate records. Depending on availability, additional time may be spent on setting up fish pairs for mating, collection of embryos at various developmental stages, accurately labeling embryos, assisting with drug screens and other lab routine tasks such as pouring plates and mixing solutions; screening embryos for florescent GFP.

Educational Value

The selected applicant will gain the skills required to work in a genetics research laboratory environment.

Job Requirements

Looking for a mature, reliable and trustworthy candidate. Must demonstrate ability to work independently. Must have excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and show initiative and ability to learn new skills or techniques.
