We provide after school programs at 5 community centers in Ann Arbor and 1 in-school community center in Ypsilanti. Program Assistants play an important role in facilitating our dynamic after-school programs. General duties include: preparing activity materials; coordinating and facilitating social-emotional activities, academic lessons, projects, and games; preparing light meals; providing academic support for elementary and middle school children; clean-up after the centers close; and general monitoring the behavior of at-risk youth in a challenging environment. Program Assistants are part of a collaborative team and are supervised by the Community Center Director. Chaperoning of occasional field trips on weekends is also possible. Work hours vary by site, but are typically between 2 or 3 pm to 6 or 7 pm Mondays -Thursdays. Program Assistants must be available to work 2 or more program days a week to provide consistency for the kids. Our Ann Arbor based community centers Creekside, Hikone, and Bryant are located on the south side, Green Baxter Court is located on the northeast side, and Arrowwood Hills is located on the north side. All Ann Arbor locations are on AAATA or UofM bus lines. Our Ypsilanti based community center is located in southern Ypsilanti at Brick Elementary. Brick Community Center is not accessible by bus lines from UofM. |
