Since 1974, Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels (AAMOW) has worked to reduce hunger and food insecurity for our homebound adult neighbors in the Ann Arbor area who, because of their health, are unable to shop and prepare nutritious meals for themselves. AAMOW staff and volunteers are committed to supporting the dignity and independence of our homebound community members who are largely unable to leave home because of their health status. We value diversity, equity, and inclusion and seek to provide services that are culturally responsive. Office Assistants support AAMOW's meal deliveries by cleaning coolers and baskets, counting meals, greeting volunteers, bagging Ensure, and occasionally delivering meals in their own vehicle or a University vehicle. Office Assistants also help with general tasks in the office that may include calling clients, entering data, and attending in-home assessments with AAMOW's Social Workers. This is an excellent opportunity for MSW students to expand your work experience, work in a community-based setting, strengthen your interpersonal skills, and give back to your community in very tangible ways. |
