Job Description

Position will assist the Adult Hospital Patient Education Program, Pavilion Patient and Family Library, and Mardigian Wellness Resource Center (MWRC) in providing effective health education to patients, their families as well as communities. Tasks include performing various office duties, entering data into databases, and other duties as assigned.  Will assist with organizing and maintaining inventories, monitoring quality-control using LEAN principles, and education folder/binder order fulfillment to patient care units/clinics. 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Use prepared guides to help patients/families seeking health information.

• Provide simple instruction on public computers, copier, and fax within MWRC.

• Assist with organizing inventory and storage of patient-education materials, applying established Lean principles.

• Enter data into spreadsheets for reports.

• Help prepare reports, presentations, and data.

• Deliver supplies to inpatient units and clinic settings.

• Review and proofread materials to check quality.

• Draft and edit high quality patient education for program director review. 

Educational Value

This position offers an opportunity to interact with faculty-staff and patients-families-guests regarding Patient Education-MWRC services, to gain experience in a health education resource center, and to learn more about cardiovascular patient and consumer health education. This position also offers an opportunity to acquire professional office/administration skills, learn about quality control and lean principles, and work in a team environment.

Job Requirements

Minimum one year of previous office experience. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite. Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written. Attention to detail and commitment to accurate work. Candidate must be available 10 hours per week between the hours of 9:00AM – 4:00PM, Monday thru Friday.
