Job Description

The Economic Growth Institute at the University of Michigan is seeking a talented graduate or undergraduate student with financial experience to assist with implementing effective engagement plans and materials for supporting the Advanced Mobility Supply Chain Transformation Center (STC Program).

The University of Michigan’s Economic Growth Institute (EGI) is a one-stop-shop to support small- to medium sized manufacturers in the greater Detroit region in their transformation into the future of mobility. The EGI STC Program will assess manufacturers’ needs and connect them with the technical assistance necessary to help them stabilize, diversify, grow, and/or responsibly succeed in ownership transition.  Please visit our EGI STC Program website:

This research position works with EGI Senior Project Managers and will be responsible for assisting with various day to day program activities including:

  • ·         Conducting financial analysis on EGI clients
  • ·         Assisting with industry overview on EGI clients
  • ·         Assisting with report-writing for EGI clients
  • ·         Assisting with project support for EGI clients
Educational Value

Students will gain experience in business assessments, business acumen and valuations, client interactions, financial awareness, as well as strategic business planning.

Job Requirements

Applicants are expected to be able to work independently.  Knowledge and experience with financial documents including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, etc. would be a plus.

Applicants should possess experience with conducting research utilizing our University Library (i.e. Ross Institute) and experience with Microsoft Suite products.  Knowledge and interest utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) would be of added benefit.  Students wishing to work on Economic Growth Institute projects should exhibit excellent critical thinking skills, high levels of self-motivation, excellent verbal and written communication skills, in addition to dependability, punctuality, and attention to detail.

The majority of the research work for this position can be managed remotely.
