Job Description

The Community Health Services (CHS) team is hiring a Marketing and Communications Assistant (Work Study) for the summer of 2025 with the potential to extend into the 2025-26 academic year. We are seeking a team-oriented, organized, and hardworking team member with an interest in learning about marketing and communications, while gaining experience in a wide range of initiatives.

The Marketing and Communications Assistant will work closely with the CHS Program Manager for Marketing and Communications and have the opportunity to work with all members of CHS and its programs to provide a variety of marketing and creative design functions. They help brainstorm and develop social media posts to spread the word of the CHS programs, they create graphic design pieces for CHS programs’ events and initiatives, they assist in photographing CHS events and meetings, and work with the CHS Program Manager for Marketing and Communications on creating short videos to highlight program work.

  • Creating and sharing social media content on social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram). Knowledge of social media management program such as hootsuite or sprout a plus
  • Developing flyers, posters, and other graphic design pieces for CHS programs
  • Taking photos and headshots at CHS events and meetings
  • Editing short videos
  • Uploading and organizing content on DropBox
  • Brainstorming content and methods to expand social media audience.

Job Requirements
  • Must be a current UM undergraduate or graduate student in good standing
  • Work study funding eligible
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A positive, can-do attitude
  • Experience in creating and planning social media content for Facebook and Instagram
  • Experience or willingness to learn about creative design (Photography, graphic design, videography) via Adobe Creative Suite
  • Organized, reliable person with the ability to complete tasks as assinged in a timely manner (with or without supervision)
  • Reliable transportation for attending meetings and events
  • A laptop that can run Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software a plus! (e.g. photoshop, premiere pro, lightroom, etc)
  • Experience using DSLR cameras a plus!
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour to $20.00/hour
Hours 15.0 to 20.0 hours per week
