Job Description

The Science Learning Center (SLC) supports approximately 2,000 students each semester through its Peer-Led Study Group Program. We are seeking a graduate student for a hybrid role that combines in-person and remote responsibilities. This position will provide in-person support to 150–200 undergraduate Study Group Peer Facilitators at least two evenings per week (Monday–Thursday, 4:00–7:00 p.m.), while also contributing remotely to the program’s administrative operations. This role reports to the SLC Study Group Program Manager.

 Based on the time of the semester, you will be responsible for:

Student Support & Program Engagement

  • Provide in-person support to undergraduate Study Group Facilitators at least two days per week (Monday–Thursday, 4–7 PM, Chemistry Building, Ann Arbor campus), with additional flexible hybrid hours up to 20 hours per week.

  • Participate in observations of Study Group sessions

  • Mentor student staff project groups to support their progress and completion

Operations & Administration

  • Review corrections to facilitator time reporting and payroll errors

  • Coordinate and distribute weekly announcements

  • Schedule meetings on the student staff calendar, including sending invitations and tracking follow-ups

Communication & Accountability

  • Coordinate follow-up reminders for undergraduate student staff regarding missed requirements/deadlines

  • Help organize and distribute survey results

Projects & Events

  • Collaborate on special projects

  • Support the End-of-Year SLC Student Appreciation Celebration Committee

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Current graduate student enrolled at the UM

  • In-person hours are required at least two days per week, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00–7:00 PM. 

  • Familiarity with Google Suite products

  • Professional Communication

  • A desire to support students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest or experience in the sciences or student development or academic support.

  • Familiarity/experience with learning assistance programs (Study Groups, Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction)

  • Experience with administrative coordination

  • Experience with Survey Monkey and MailChimp
