Job Description

The UMS Patron Services Office is seeking to fill multiple work study student staff positions for 2025-2026 Academic Year. Hired student staff should expect to start training as classes begin around late August or early September. Once trained, student staff have the opportunity to stay year-to-year and work until graduation. This position will be in-person.

JOB TITLE: Ticket Office Student

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Work with the ticket office and front-of-house team to ensure the best possible patron experience leading up to and at over 150 live performing arts events each year, presented by University Musical Society (UMS), the School of Music, Theater, & Dance (SMTD), and the Ann Arbor Summer Festival (A2SF). 

REQUIRED HOURS: Student staff should expect to work a varied schedule, consisting of regular business hours, with additional times as needed to support performance staffing needs. Applicants should be available to work a minimum of 10 hours per week. Business hours are from 10am-5pm, Monday-Friday in two separate offices. Performance shifts vary week to week but are primarily evenings and weekends.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: • Commitment to excellent, professional customer service. • Willingness to exercise patience and flexibility • High level of dependability and professional work ethic. • Available to work a mix of daytime office hours as well as nights and weekends. • Able to communicate efficiently and accurately (phone, email, and in-person). • Enjoys the challenge of working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. • Strong desire to understand and appreciate a wide variety of cultures and traditions. • Confident working with cash • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative. • Required computer skills: Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Gmail, Search, and Calendars. • Lifting may be required of boxes and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
