Job Description

The Michigan Nanotechnology Institute (MNIMBS) is looking for a temporary research laboratory attendant to work 10 - 29 hours/week.

Candidate will obtain basic understanding of the operations of a research lab and the importance of proper organization of materials and cleanliness required for experiments. This job involves cleaning, wrapping, labeling and sterilizing glassware and other fragile lab equipment for biological and chemical labs; clean table, sinks, benches, receive and distribute samples of material; fill reagent bottles; operate gas, steam and heat sterilizing equipment; dispose of refuse. Job also involves some data entry and ordering and maintaining of supplies along with other duties as assigned.

As the candidate gains experience, (s)he will be able to learn culture of primary cells or cell lines, immunostaining, PCR, Western blotting, and ELISA, etc.

Gaining knowledge of laboratory research and being able to be a part of a project and the operations surrounding a research lab environment.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma with some college level classes in chemistry and biology and lab classes a must.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with and familiarity with working in chemical or biological labs.  Knowledge of culture of primary cells or cell lines, immunostaining, PCR, Western blotting, and ELISA, etc.

 

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
