Job Description

Nexus is a division in the College of Engineering (CoE) that delivers interdisciplinary graduate programs with courses comprised of on-campus and online students.  Nexus Media Assistants (MA) operate digital video equipment to record and capture classroom lectures.  Responsibilities for the role includes remote camera operation, audio monitoring, and technical support for instructors.  Duties will be performed on location, with some work performed remotely.  Hours for the position will be approximately 10-20 hours per week, with a high degree of variability.  Multiple positions are available.

Educational Value

This is a great opportunity for students to learn about digital education and work closely with the Nexus Design Team and faculty in technology enabled classrooms. Students will learn to operate a digital lecture capture system, camera operations, and be part of a production team.   There may be opportunities to continue production work on other studio based projects for candidates with advanced skills. 

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Foundational knowledge of operating audio/video technology
  • Provide technical support for remote live instruction via Zoom (or similar platform)
  • Desire to learn media technology
  • Commit to consistent hours based on recording schedule
  • Ability to troubleshoot live classroom technology 
  • Maintain focus and attention to detail for extended periods of time, i.e. length of the class
  • Ability to take charge and help troubleshoot classroom issues quickly and efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work within a diverse population of students, peers, and faculty

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Media production or related experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as determined by the needs of the department, including morning and evening shifts
  • Punctuality and proactive communication skills
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
