Job Description

Basic Function: To provide basic support to the daily operations of Fraternity & Sorority Life

Duties:

Customer Service

  • Welcome guests to Fraternity & Sorority Life and triage questions and concerns appropriately
  • Provide excellent, timely, and sensitive customer service in a fast-paced and private environment 
  • Answer telephone(s); take detailed and accurate messages and communicate them effectively with appropriate staff member
  • Handle all communications, information, and data with sensitivity and privacy

Administrative

  • Assist with data collection and editing of documents
  • Assist ongoing and immediate projects in support of FSL Staff and sponsored student organizations
  • Pick up, sort, and distribute mail 
  • Maintain a neat and presentable work area
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Educational Value

 

This job will provide the student with the opportunity to function in a fast-paced, multi-faceted student affairs operation while learning administrative processes, and office management operations in a higher education setting.

Job Requirements:
  • Students are expected to maintain the privacy of the office and effectively manage their time while working.
  • Reasonable knowledge of and ability to use standard business software and computer applications (Excel, Word, Google, PowerPoint) and general office equipment is necessary. 
  • Candidates must be able to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students and to follow both verbal and written instructions. A high attention to detail and level of accountability is also expected.
  • Fraternity & Sorority Life, located at 1443 Washtenaw, is open for standard operations Monday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm and the building is open for reserved events Monday-Thursday  5:00pm to10:00pm and Sunday  11:30am to 8:30pm. Students must be available to work during daytime, evenings and weekends.
  • The position runs from August 26, 2024  to  May 2025 with the potential for summer 2025 employment. The office is closed for recognized holidays and university season days during winter break.
