Job Description

Applicant will be reporting to a member of the DAAS administrative team. Selected applicant would be assisting with the creation of input for the development and execution of a wide range of written projects; this position consists of conducting some background research, conducting interviews and transcribing notes, and attending relevant meetings as it relates to marketing DAAS and recounting some of the unit’s history, as well as communicating current events. The material being created may be displayed online and in printed media with credits as appropriate. Working in collaboration with the administrative team, the selected candidate would be able to set her/his work schedule and make recommendations on topics of interest that may be worthy of additional research.

The selected candidate would be expected to collaborate with the leadership team to develop, write, and edit material related to departmental marketing and unit history. The selected candidate would perform other related duties as assigned which can include but is not limited to the following: provide copy write and editorial assistance; proofread materials; propose materials for publication; create copy write and assist in publication arrangement; assist with program advertisement, some event support and execution, and some advisory board/committee facilitation.

This is a 4 to 10 hours a week appointment ($15.00 per hour) for the 2025 Winter Term and possibly the 2025 Fall Term starting on February 3, 2025 with variable hours in the term to facilitate primarily virtual work that will transition to some on-site work. Because of the variable nature of competing schedules and time for material assembly, some flexibility in scheduling and work hours is desired

Job Requirements
  • Must be an enrolled student at UM in good standing
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Some experience working in an administrative position
  • Possess the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Possess the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students in an academic setting
  • Have strong planning and organizational skills
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have some familiarity with UM policies and procedures

The tone should be informative and professional. Please adhere to AP style guidelines in your writing.
