Job Description

Computer Consultant II

This position provides support for Student Life administrative staff working in-person and remotely, primarily through ticket updates via the user's preferred contact method.  SLTS receives escalations from the ITS Service Center for technical problems that are related to Student Life-specific technologies, software, and systems.

Consultants are responsible for supporting a wide variety of systems, including card readers, point-of-sale devices, audio/video equipment, digital signs, administrative computers, and enterprise software across multiple Student Life units and locations. Consultants will also be expected to assist with the lifting/moving, installation, and setup of heavy objects including, but not limited to, technology components and computer peripherals. Consequently, applicants should feel comfortable working with low-voltage devices and components located up to 25 feet off the ground.

This position also consists of the regular upkeep of the Community Learning Centers (CLCs) and ResComp Computer Labs throughout the Ann Arbor campus (including reorganizing furniture). Support for all A/V equipment within Student Life includes TVs, Digital Signs, room controllers, AV controllers, DVD & Blu-ray players, and projectors, among others. As a result, a consultant must be able to operate for extended periods of time independent of supervision and without immediate assistance from other team members.

Consultants may also be tasked with project work, such as actively researching new collaborative technologies and assisting with acquiring demo models to be tested in the office for possible future deployment into supported units and locations.  Other tasks may be assigned by one of the SLTS managers, other team members, or this position's direct supervisor.

We are hiring for the 2025 Winter term but the job can extend into future terms.
