Center for Campus Involvement Overview (http://campusinvolvement.umich.edu) The Center for Campus Involvement (CCI) in University Unions within Student Life at the University of Michigan is a dynamic, student-focused department that serves all undergraduate and graduate students through student programs, student services, and student development. Through meaningful involvement, CCI creates transformative experiences, a vibrant community, and lifelong memories for University of Michigan students. CCI recognizes and supports over 1,500 student organizations through education, advising, advocacy and services. CCI also implements hundreds of social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs each year, focused on building community within and beyond University Unions’ facilities. Job Summary/Responsibilities This Graduate Intern position will work to help embed effective diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, practices, and services in the Center for Campus Involvement with a specific focus on facilitating educational discussions with students. This role will work with the Manager for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to integrate DEI resources and opportunities in tailored ways that will be meaningful for different student communities. This approach will build unique, yet connected, programs and services intentionally guiding students through learning pathways. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collaborating with their supervisor to develop and implement workshop and program content for students that focuses on topics of diversity, equity, inclusion, identity, and social justice topics. Assisting with reviewing assessment data to identify trends and areas of improvement for CCI to provide more equitable resources and services to students. Facilitating educational workshops, discussions, and sessions for students related to inclusive leadership, combatting bias, and identity and customer service.
Hours: 10-20 hours/week Graduate Pay: $18/hour Work Location: Michigan Union (50% in person, 50% remote) Expected End Date: May 2025 (with the possibility of renewal for the following academic year) Supervised by: Manager, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Miscellaneous While the aforementioned duties are the priority, this position is expected to be available and willing to perform other duties necessary to the effective functioning of CCI as a whole.
