Camp Counselors for the U-M Museum of Natural History's summer camp program, Camp Explorations, oversee and are responsible for the general welfare of their group of campers, provide instruction to camp participants for indicated activity or subject, and teach the associated knowledge and skills and assist campers in achieving activity or lesson goals. They are positive role models for children and teens and act in a caring, honest, respectful and responsible manner that is consistent with the mission of the Museum and University. You must apply at online:https://forms.gle/LY2dDu2CAy1tBd8E7 Responsibilities include: • •Attend camp training week of June 10th (dates and times TBD) • Lead nine weeks of science-themed camp activities for youth ages 4-12 (June 14-Aug 16) • Provide daily high-quality customer service to campers and parents • Ensure safety of site, activities and participants; report any accidents, injuries and safety concerns • Effectively communicate and coordinate with all members of the Camp team to ensure overall success • Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities • Set a good example for campers in all areas, including cleanliness, punctuality, cleanup, rules, and sportsmanship • Prepare for and actively participate in pre-camp training and weekly meetings • Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques • Work in all weather conditions • Other duties as assigned |
