Astronomy Docents | Judy & Stanley Frankel Detroit Observatory at the University of Michigan The University of Michigan’s historic Detroit Observatory is dedicated to education and outreach in astronomy and related sciences as well as in the history of the University. Our student docent program — open to undergraduate and graduate U-M students — will play a vital role in fulfilling this mission. Docents will assist with events, programs, and presentations for groups and visitors, development of exhibits and presentations, facilitation of visitors’ experiences, and generally support the work of the Observatory. The Observatory reopened in April 2022 following a two-year closure for the construction of an education and visitor center annex. More information about the Observatory can be found at https://detroitobservatory.umich.edu.
