Assistant in Collection Management—Museum of Zoology, UM Are you interested in natural history? Are you interested in biodiversity? The position is to assisst in currating the University of Michigan Museum of Zoology (UMMZ) insect collection. Our world-class collection has over 5 million specimens and growing! The job is multifacited. There will be a lot of handling of museum specimens, and some even date back to the early 1800s! - Handling, currating, mounting and dissecting specimens

- Databasing and data management, specimen dissections.
The Knowles Lab members are working collaboratively on the evolution and population genetics of the hyper-diverse spur-throated grasshoppers (Melanoplus), involving both lab and museum work. It is a large undertaking, from which postdocs, graduate- and undergraduate students all spearhead their own projects. We are looking for curious and motivated individuals that are interested in getting involved with UMMZ's insect collection, and the lab's research at the Biological Sciences Building (BSB), and join our team, our community. We want someone that wants to pursue opportunities. |
