Job Description

Beyond The Diag is a dynamic and growing program, with a significant program of events and initiatives throughout the year, which will provide great project management experience.

As Graduate Assistant, you will oversee a team of high-performing students who are making an impact in the off-campus housing community. You will develop networks and relationships with many Student Life and university partners, as well as community-based groups and organizations. You will develop innovative and creative ways to address shared concerns, around housing availability and affordability, off-campus safety and security, and student well-being. You will assist in researching and developing a programmatic response to issues around equitable access to housing, and how this aspect of social justice intersects with the student experience. The program is located within the Dean of Students Office, and this role will also have opportunities to contribute to and be involved with other student affairs activities within the Dean of Students Office and the Division of Student Life.

Duties will include:

  • Planning and delivering events and activities
  • Helping to lead and coordinate in regularly-scheduled team meetings
  • Representing Beyond The Diag when collaborating with other teams and departments
  • Assisting with office hours coverage (at the Dean of Students Office)
  • Working with the Program Manager to assist with research and development opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned, within the Dean of Students Office
  • Assisting with the writing, production and publication of the monthly newsletter

Job Requirements
  • Hours vary, depending on the planned activities taking place.
  • Average of around 10-15 hours per week.
  • Applicant must hold a Bachelor-level degree, and be enrolled in a graduate-level program at U-M.
  • Role will include activities taking place at nights and weekends
Hourly Rate $20.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 15.0 hours per week
