Job Description

Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services (SAAS) is a student-centered unit within the Division of Student Life whose work is guided by best-practice standards and interventions utilizing a multidimensional model of student well-being. SAAS oversees three key resources; Services for Students with Disabilities, the Adaptive Sports and Fitness program, & Testing Accommodation Centers (TAC), and is committed to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility by providing support services, advocacy and academic accommodations to students with disabilities. SAAS is strongly committed to outreach services to the academic community at large, and promoting awareness of disability issues and providing support for equal access for all students. SAAS is a partner to students, faculty and staff in the pursuit of developing leaders and citizens who will challenge the present and enrich the future.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the TAC Staff, Testing Assistants will greet students, faculty, and staff at the Testing Accommodation Center, direct students to the appropriate location, ensure security of testing space, foster an appropriate testing environment, serve as a scribe/reader as needed, resolve or report test irregularities; and support the TAC Staff with the day-to-day operations of the TAC. This role is essential in supporting the TAC mission in creating a supporting and welcoming environment for test takers at the University of Michigan. 

Responsibilities

Administration of Testing Accommodations (80%)

  • Administering exams to students with disabilities, in accordance with the standards provided by the instructor and the Testing Accommodation Centers. 

  • Monitor student behavior in the Testing Center and resolve or report test irregularities.

  • Facilitating questions from students during exams to faculty. 

  • Answering questions via phone or in person from students and faculty. 

  • Provide real time support to students taking exams. 

  • Foster supportive testing environment. 

  • Serve as Exam reader or scribe for students in testing environment. 

  • Ensuring the confidentiality of students and integrity of the exams.

  • Assisting Testing Accommodation Facilitators with clerical tasks

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in UMich graduate program

    • We cannot hire undergraduates

  • Computer knowledge, proficiency, and skills

  • Customer service experience

  • Morning or Evening availability

Hourly Rate $17.50/hour to $18.00/hour
Hours 5.0 to 20.0 hours per week
