Graduate Assistant Role Overview: 

The Edward Ginsberg Center is seeking an experienced student enrolled in a graduate program to provide support for the Center’s America Reads program.  America Reads is a national work-study program that employs undergraduate and graduate students who serve as literacy tutors to elementary students in Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Ypsilanti schools. Our mission is to have all children reading proficiently and independently by the end of third grade, and the Ginsberg Center provides tutors with training and resources to achieve this goal. Creativity and positivity are key components of our professional team, along with a strong commitment to literacy education.

This is a hybrid, 8-10 hour position with consistent, daytime hours. This graduate assistant position will be responsible for the following:

  •  Tutor Scheduling 

    • Confirm and manage schedules of tutors connecting with schools in person or virtually

    • Assists with items related to scheduling including for tutor absences, school closures, or any variation in schedule

    • Review tutor check ins on a bi-weekly basis

  •  Coordinating Tutor Transportation Schedules 

    • Create Transportation Schedule for tutors based on tutor request forms and partner schedules and needs

  • Leadership and Engagement Coordinator

    • Work directly with team leads to build a learning community

      • Schedule regular check in meetings

      • Assist in building curriculum for team leads

      • Manage goal setting process

  • Compensation: $19/hr
