Job Description

The successful applicant will assist in the daily operations and routine maintenance duties at the Belleville Lake boathouse, under the direction of the Rigger and Operations Assistant for U-M Women’s Rowing.

Typical duties shall include: supporting and communicating with coaches during practice, refueling launches, cleaning boats, docks and facilities, helping to move boats, docks and other heavy and awkward objects, performing minor repairs to buildings and equipment, emptying trash and recycling containers, completing routine daily/weekly/monthly checklists, and complete minor landscaping projects. 

Because this job is located off-campus, applicants will need to provide or arrange their own transportation, to the boathouse in the Van Buren Park.

Educational Value

Students will learn to understand and appreciate how to work behind the scenes of a highly motivated and competitive team, how best to support the student athletes, coaches and staff. Further educational opportunities include learning carbon fiber shell repair, painting techniques, liasing with university facilities support, regatta operations, travel logistics, and many other procedures.

Job Requirements

High School Education or GED.

Ability to lift 50 lbs, and carry 100 lbs for short distances.

Preferred requirements include: good time management and communication skills, rowing experience, personal transportation, and 1+ year of building and/or grounds maintenance experience.

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 4.0 to 20.0 hours per week
