*Graduate student must be enrolled in a U-M graduate program at the time of employment.* Primary Duties and/or Possible Projects for This Role: Assist the MFamily program manager in delivering programs, services, resources, and communications for University of Michigan families. Support program creation, planning, and implementation. Develop marketing strategies for MFamily events and the MFamily Association on the website, portal, and shared U-M social accounts. Assist in developing articles and posts within the MFamily portal. Assist with identifying and promoting benefits and opportunities for members of the MFamily Association. Responsible for coordinating the webinar and coffee chat series logistics carried out via Zoom platform. Support the MFamily Forum initiatives, including but not limited to meetings, events, and communications. Support the implementation of major University and departmental initiatives, including but not limited to Fall and Winter Welcome, Parent & Family Weekend, and other Student Life programs. Uphold University policies and procedures for programs and services.
Qualifications: Graduate program assistants must be enrolled in a U-M graduate program and available through the summer months. The applicant should have prior experience in customer service, community engagement, or another public-facing role. The assistant must also show flexibility, creativity, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. They must also be committed to fostering student belonging and capable of working with diverse populations. Familiarity with U-M and the campus, and knowledge of Canva or other design programs, is preferred. The assistant must be capable of working independently and collaboratively. This position requires strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effective communication skills, and excellent time management. Physical requirements: ability to move and lift boxes and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds and make frequent campus trips. Graduate students are limited to working a maximum of 29 hours per week across all campus employment positions combined. MFamily may hire up to two graduate program assistants for the year. Compensation: This position pays $20 per hour and requires a 15-20-hour weekly commitment during the spring and summer semesters and 10-15 hours during the fall semester. Winter employment may be available. |
