*Graduate program assistants must be enrolled in a U-M graduate program and available during the spring, summer, and fall terms.* A program in communications, marketing, higher education, or business, and a demonstrated interest in a career in new student programs, student engagement, or student development is preferred but not required. The assistant must also demonstrate flexibility, creativity, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. They must also commit to and demonstrate the ability to work with diverse populations. Familiarity with U-M, campus, customer service skills, and knowledge of software programs. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively, and bring a sense of humor each day. This position requires strong organizational/planning skills, attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, strong communication skills, and effective time management. Physical requirements: ability to move and lift boxes and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds and make frequent campus trips. During the same period, graduate program assistants cannot hold other graduate assistantships or be full-time employees on campus. MFamily may hire up to two graduate program assistants for the year. Primary Duties and/or Possible Projects for This Role: Assist the MFamily program manager in providing programs, services, resources, and communications for the University of Michigan families. Support program creation, planning, and implementation. Develop a marketing plan for MFamily events and the MFamily Association on the website, portal, and shared U-M social accounts. Assist in developing articles and posts within the MFamily portal. Assist with identifying and promoting benefits and opportunities for members of the MFamily Association. Responsible for the webinar and coffee chat series logistics executed through the Zoom platform. Support the MFamily Forum volunteer group initiatives, which include, but are not limited to, meetings, events, and communications. Support the implementation of major University and departmental initiatives, including but not limited to Fall and Winter Welcome, Parent & Family Weekend, and other Student Life programs. Uphold University policies and procedures for programs and services.
Compensation: This position pays $18/hour and requires a 10-15 hour weekly commitment during spring, summer, and fall. Winter employment may be available. |
