Job Description

Applicant will be reporting to a member of the DAAS Faculty.  The selected student will perform routine research tasks to include but not limited to the following tasks: library research; participate in group observation activities; some reporting/input analysis, administer questionnaires and possibly conduct interviews; take part in Social Science or Humanities experiments; collect, analyze, and tabulate/code data; some event support and execution; and some committee facilitation. This is a 5 to 10 hour a week appointment ($15.00 per hour to $ 20.00 per hour) for the 2025 Winter Term starting on January 1, 2025 with variable hours in the term to facilitate primarily on-site work. Some flexibility in scheduling is desired.

Educational Value

This position offers an opportunity to develop a variety of research support skills and utilize a variety of transferrable skills/programs.  The selected student will gain valuable research experience, learn how to develop professional relationships, and learn how to respond proactively in an evolving research support role.  Finally, the selected candidate(s) will gain experience and refine highly desired employment skills such as punctuality, accountability, and responsibility.

Job Requirements

 

  • Must be an enrolled student at UM in good standing
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Some experience working in an administrative or research position
  • Possess the ability to think critically, take initiative, and work independently
  • Possess the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse group of faculty and students in an academic setting
  • Have strong planning and organizational skills
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have some familiarity with UM policies and procedures

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour to $20.00/hour
