Job Description

 

Docents help with programs for groups and visitors, birthday parties, events, the museum store and much more.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors in Museum
  • Provide high quality customer service to visitors
  • Assist at Museum Public Events
  • Provide educational programming in natural history topics to groups

 

 

Educational Value

 

Students receive extensive paid training in informal education, customer service and basic instruction in several natural history topics, including paleontology, wildlife and ecology.

Requirements:

  • Enjoy working with people, especially children
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences
  • Enthusiasm for science
  • Availability in 3-hour blocks of time between 9am-2pm on at least two weekdays and weekend availability
  •  

Previous experience with children, knowledge of natural history topics, demonstrated public speaking skills, experience and ability to work well independently and in a team environment, interest in museums and education and science, and customer service experience are desired. 

Work-study AND non-work-study positions available.

 

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 3.0 to 8.0 hours per week
