The Michigan Math and Science Scholars (MMSS) summer program is a program for high school students who are open to the challenges of higher mathematics and natural sciences. Michigan Math and Science Scholars attend summer courses at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, on topics of current mathematical and scientific research. The MMSS program is hiring a number of graduate and undergraduate students who will serve as course assistants. The course assistants will work under the supervision of university faculty to assist in administering the course. Duties include supervising high school students in lab environments, grading, and assisting students who may be struggling. Most importantly, you will guide students, serving as a positive role model at all times. Class begins at 9:00 am each day and ends at 4:30 pm, with a 1.5 hour lunch break for students. MMSS offers three, two-week sessions: June 22 - July 4, July 6 - July 18, and July 20 - August 1. Most courses are offered during a single session (see the full schedule here). We are looking for students who have a strong background in fields such as Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. Depending on experience and education, course assistants receive a salary of $1,200 - $2,500 per session. Applicants must be 19 years or older by June 22, 2025. All applicants will undergo a background check. NOTE: Students should apply by sending a resume or CV to mmss@umich.edu.
