Job Description

Purpose: The University of Michigan U-M, Emergency Medicine (EM) Department, Injury Prevention Center (IPC), in partnership with the U-M School of Public Health Department of Epidemiology, will offer a learning experience for current Biostatistics or Epidemiology masters and doctoral students. The students will partner with EM faculty by analyzing data to support preparation of conference materials and publishable papers. This will allow the faculty member to become the first author on the publication/conference presentation and students to further establish an analytical portfolio.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in planning, developing, and implementing research projects.
  • Analyze data and prepare findings in tables and figures.
  • Attending bi-weekly meetings
Educational Value

The student will learn how to work with faculty in a statistical consultation role to facilitate publications.

Job Requirements

 

Eligibility Requirement:

  • Enrolled in a master’s or doctoral degree program in Biostatistics or Epidemiology
  • Reference letter from an advisor or course instructor

Qualifications:

  • Completed a graduate-level introduction to statistics (e.g., BIOSTAT 501), and one additional statistical course beyond that.
  • Readiness to apply methods such as multivariable logistic regression; multiple linear regression; exploratory factor analysis; repeated-measures ANOVA and multilevel modeling; statistical power analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in a collegial environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with at least one statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata, SAS, SPSS).
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour to $20.00/hour
