Job Description

The Leaders in Environmental Health Science and Diversity (LEAD) Program is seeking (1) Graduate Student Residential Assistant to support undergraduate summer interns, facilitate programming, and to build meaningful relationships. The LEAD Summer Research Experience is an 8-week program (June 1, 2024 to July 27, 2024). The main responsibilities of the Graduate Residential Assistant are to support the academic success of LEAD scholars by creating and maintaining an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment within the School of Public Health. The Graduate Residential Assistant will serve as a guide to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and surrounding communities. Through support and community building activities, the Graduate Residential Assistant will assist students to have a successful transition from their home institutions. This position requires providing support and guidance for 6 undergraduate students over the course of 8-weeks and advance work preparing for their arrival beforehand. The Graduate Residential Assistant will report to Dr. Simone Charles (primary supervisor) and Dr. Marie O’Neill (secondary supervisor).

Job Requirements

-  Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Be a full-time graduate or professional student at The University of Michigan Ann Arbor in good academic standing.

 Be willing to work evenings, nights, and weekends throughout the duration of the program as needed.

Exhibit strong leadership and organizational skills.

 Be committed to advancing the academic success of undergraduate students through fellowship, mentorship, and community building.

Have experience working with students from various backgrounds.

Possess critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills

Have experience planning and hosting events.

Be a masters or doctoral student in the School of Public Health, The School for Environment and Sustainability, or STEM-related fields.

 Have experience teaching or working with undergraduate students.

 Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and related Google applications.

Be able to demonstrate campus and/or community involvement.

Possess extensive knowledge of The University of Michigan Campus and Resources.

Hourly Rate $18.00/hour to $20.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 29.0 hours per week
