Job Description

The Museum Content Creator will work closely with the UMMA Marketing & Public Relations team to support and enhance storytelling efforts surrounding Museum projects and exhibitions. This person will assist with the coordination of a broad range of digital marketing projects including the development of social media content, creating website content, and taking photos and videos of Museum projects in action.

As an integral part of the Museum’s marketing team, you will work closely with curators, educators, and others to find engaging ways to share unique, one-of-a-kind museum stories with digital audiences. 

The position offers a flexible schedule with the individual working about 12-15+ Hours / Week. 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

80% - Content Production

  • Developing and creating engaging Instagram stories and TikTok videos using a combination of video, photography, animated text, stickers, gifs, polls, audience questions, and other features of various social media platforms.

  • Working in collaboration with the UMMA Social Media Specialist to manage UMMA social media platforms.

  • Assisting with the collection of information for and development of various email marketing campaigns

  • Manage the promotion of upcoming events through community calendars 

  • Covering select special events, and occasionally taking photographs

  • Occasionally support other marketing and website writing needs, as requested

  • Utilize basic skills and knowledge in photo and video production, including editing tools, to create high-quality content.

  • Be comfortable talking and being in front of the camera for various content creation needs.

20% - Planning

  • Brainstorming fun new ways to creatively engage and build the department's social media community

  • Communicating with staff to gather information about events, news, promotions, and strategic brand messaging

  • Assisting with the organization of a content calendar for social media posts

Educational Value

Practical Experience: Students will acquire hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation. This includes developing skills in photography, videography, and editing

Project Management: Managing social media platforms and assisting with content calendars will help students develop strong organizational and planning skills.

Networking Opportunities: Engaging with museum staff and covering special events will provide students with valuable networking opportunities within the arts and culture sector.

Cultural and Artistic Awareness: Engaging with museum projects and exhibitions will deepen students' understanding and appreciation of art and culture, enriching their educational experience.

Research and Information Gathering: Assisting with the collection of information for marketing campaigns and social media content will improve students' research skills and their ability to synthesize information effectively.

 
Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Strong writing skills, dependable, creative thinker, friendly and curious.

  • Advanced and creative knowledge of digital communications tools: TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others.

  • Ability to set and manage priorities, think on your feet, and take creative liberties with assigned tasks.

  • Basic skills and knowledge of photo and video production, including editing tools.

  • Comfortable talking and being in front of the camera.

  • Access to a phone capable of creating and editing content for social media platforms.

Hourly Rate $19.00/hour
