The Turner Senior Resource Center (2401 Plymouth Rd, parking available/free), provides programming, resources, and activities for older adults in a community setting. The purpose of our work study students is to support the University of Michigan Health's Department of Community Health Services programs Turner Senior Wellness Program, and Turner African American Services Council with various tasks. The Turner Senior Wellness Program is a learning, health, and wellness program that enhances the quality of life for older adults and their families. The mission of the Turner African American Services Council (TAASC) is to serve as a liaison between the community and local health care providers by creating partnerships to increase and enhance access to wellness, health education, and health care for diverse and underserved older adults. While being enrolled in a graduate program is not required, this placement is an excellent opportunity for Social Work, Public Health (etc.) students who are looking for experience in non-profit/community setting with older adults. Opportunities include program development/implementation, surveys, marketing/communications, volunteer engagement, community outreach and more. - Data entry and compiling data - Update participant record information - Answering phones - Working on Zoom/Teams, Outlook and Google Suite platforms - Working with social media and creating newsletter content graphic design - Assembling informational and assessment packets - Special events and projects - Assist with staff program activities, as needed - General office assistance |
