The Student Accessibility Specialist works as part of the Library Accessibility Remediation Program to: - perform work to make existing digital files more accessible for all users including users with disabilities - improve the accessibility of PDF documents using PDF editing software (Adobe Acrobat Pro, ABBYY Fine Reader, and other tools) - create and correct captions and transcripts for video and audio files using caption editing software (Subtitle Horse, Subtitle-Edit, and other tools) - create and correct visual descriptions for images and moving images - develop proficiency in making digital content accessible and continue to learn - follow workflows and instructions set out in team documentation and style guides; contribute to improving documentation and style guides over time - potentially convert complex graphics into simplified line drawings for tactile graphics |
