Job Description

The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) in the College of Engineering (CoE) helps engineers grow and advance technology in state-of-the-art systems operating across the marine environment.  The individual in this role will support the content creation and overall management of the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME) Department website.  They will also assist in writing, updating, and maintaining content for newsletters, email campaigns, social media, event communications, and annual reports. The individual will work closely with NAME staff members to support broader outreach initiatives, help expand NAME recruitment, and support NAME's creative projects, including print and promotional materials, ensuring they are completed on time, and within budget.  They will also maintain a content calendar of all NAME events and announcements to track content distribution.

As part of your application, candidates should include a portfolio highlighting at least three previous marketing/design projects completed, and a cover letter is required for consideration and should be attached. The cover letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline skills and experience that directly relate to this position.

Educational Value

This is a great opportunity for a student to learn more about marketing, communications, and website/social media management.  The individual will also gain value in working closely with NAME staff and faculty to support creative projects and expand recruitment efforts.  The student will gain hands-on experience updating and maintaining content on WebPress and crafting content for newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and other communications, which sharpens writing and editing skills.   There may be opportunities to continue marketing work on additional projects for candidates with advanced skills.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications
UM students from all majors are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to those studying Marketing, Communication and Media, Business, or a related field
One to two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with WordPress.
High level of proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive).

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour to $17.00/hour
Hours 5.0 to 10.0 hours per week
