Job Description

The Digital Studies Institute (DSI) is seeking to hire a graduate student to serve as a DEI Strategic Plan Assistant. In this position, the assistant will collaborate with the DSI Director, Program Manager, and Leadership team to draft and develop our unit-level 3-year DEI Strategic Plan. This will include the following:

  • Assist with DEI strategic goal assessment including drafting objectives, action items, and short-term and long-term metrics;

  • Develop new assessment tools for DEI initiatives;

  • Assist with gathering, analyzing, and managing data;

  • Write and or/edit reports and toolkits;

  • Attend internal DEI-related meetings to develop and strengthen our DEI efforts that impact DSI students, faculty, and staff.

Job Requirements

Preference will be given to qualified applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be currently registered in a University of Michigan graduate program;

  • Interested in the academic mission and research of the DSI, which focuses on the intersection of technology, digital culture, and social justice;

  • Interested in curriculum development regarding themes of disability and technology;

  • The work described above for this position must be considered academically relevant by the department or degree program in which the student is enrolled; 

  • Demonstrated commitment to DEI through scholarship, teaching, service, and community involvement;

  • Interested in issues of student development, faculty development, leadership development, and diversity issues in higher education;

  • Excellent writing skills;

  • Demonstrated competency with modern computer productivity tools including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other presentation programs

Hourly Rate $20.00/hour to $23.00/hour
