The Research Assistant II (temp) will assist in a systematic review of the literature on how to communicate numerical information to patients. Tasks include undergoing training on the scope and purpose of the review and how to assess rigor in research studies; applying inclusion/exclusion criteria to screen article titles, abstracts, and full texts; applying a standardized rating instrument to assess the quality of the included research articles; and abstracting standard information out of the included articles. The student will also meet regularly with the research team to reach consensus on these tasks. The student may also have a chance to contribute to writing the resulting systematic review article if desired.

Educational Value

The student will learn both specific skills related to conducting a systematic review of research literature and knowledge of techniques for communicating health data.

Job Requirements

Familiarity with reading academic journal articles is essential, with a preference for familiarity with quantitative social science research methods. Attention to detail a must. Experience with conducting systematic reviews and/or systematic data extraction from academic literature is desired.

Hourly Rate $20.00/hour to $22.00/hour
