Job Description

The Graduate Student Program Assistant duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist Program Manager liaise with any respective University of Michigan offices; including but not limited to, the Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, Services for Students with Disabilities, University HealthServices, Dean of Students, Academic Deans, Career Center, and legal clinic offices.
  • Assist Program Manager handle student issues including assessing academic and personal needs and assisting students who may be in crisis.
  • Assist Program Manager in working with undocumented students to increase their academic and social integration into the University.
  • Assist in creating and implementing programs and initiatives to aid in creating a more undocumented student-friendly University.
  • Assist Program Manager to develop relationships and collaborate with local agencies and community organizations to provide additional resources and support to undocumented students.
  • Assist Program Manager regularly assesses the needs of undocumented students in order to develop holistic action plans to better serve current and prospective undocumented students.
  • Offer support to other programs at the Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives as needed.
Educational Value

Students will exercise skills in critical thinking/problem-solving,cross-campus collaboration, intercultural fluency, public speaking, and programmatic execution. Graduate students in higher education, public policy, social work, or related fields are highly encouraged to apply.
