Job description Spice & Tea Merchants is a nationwide chain of retail stores that provides high-quality, premium spices, spice blends, teas, functional hard goods, and unique, locally-created food products to retail customers. Our focus is providing our customer base with clean ingredients for their home and commercial kitchens, while providing exemplary customer service and acting as their expert information source. We are currently hiring for a seasonal Retail Sales Associates at our Ann Arbor location in Kerrytown Market. Responsibilities include customer assistance and retail sales, inventory restocking and merchandising, cash handling and completing transactions on our point-of-sale system. Our retail associates must be reliable, outgoing, friendly, and able to quickly adapt to a dynamic retail environment. They must feel comfortable approaching customers to assist with their discovery of new spices and teas, have exceptional attention to detail, and feel comfortable working independently or within a team. What you’ll do: ? Greet and assist customers upon entrance into the store ? Upsell purchases to increase sales dollars per transaction ? Maintain merchandise in the store, including product facing, cleaning, and sampling ? Replenish inventory on floor, including blending spice blends, packaging baggies and bottles, and rotating spice and tea stock in display jars ? Ringing up customers on point-of-sale system, including cash handling and credit card processing ? Ensure a high degree of detail and focus on every task ? Interest in spices, teas, or cooking strongly desired; previous retail sales experience preferred Who you are: ? Operate with a mindset of “excellence and accuracy in all things” ? Exemplary attention to detail ? Self-directed and able to work independently ? Provide exemplary customer service for all customers, internal and external ? Able to stand for up to 8 hours a day and lift up to 40lbs ? Comfortable resolving customer issues when they arise, and escalating to management when needed ?
