Job Description

The research in my laboratory is focused on understanding the molecular events important in pancreatic cancer development.  A Research Assistant I/II position is now open for routine laboratory tasks, including assistance with mouse breeding, handling, and maintenance, dish washing, autoclaving, etc. The candidate will be expected to have great communication skills and learn to perform simple tasks independently after a training period. The candidate is expected to come to the lab regularly. If interested, the candidate can also help with other more complicated experiments under the other lab members’ supervision.

Educational Value

The candidate will learn routine laboratory tasks, such as animal maintenance, handling, and breeding, autoclaving, etc. The candidate will also learn communication skills with the other lab members and work in a cooperative environment. There is a potential for the candidate to learn more complex laboratory experiments and cancer biology.

Job Requirements

An undergraduate student or bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Previous experience with animal, especially mouse, handling is preferred.  Additional experience in a research lab is a plus.
