Job Description

We are currently seeking student staff members for the Spring/Summer semester, preferably continuing into Fall/Winter.

Spring/Summer semesters have the opportunity to work an average of 20-29 hours/week, and Fall/Winter 8-15 hours/week, depending upon availability and student schedules.

The starting wage is $15.00 per hour.

Spring/Summer Brandon Center Hours are:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Fridays: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Fall/Winter Brandon Center Hours are:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
  • Fridays: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Under the supervision of the Marsal Family School of Education Instructional Support staff, the Media Assistant will handle the daily operations of the Brandon Center Front Desk. This includes scheduling meeting rooms located within the Brandon Center and working with audio/video equipment for checkout.

The Media Assistant provides a welcoming environment to visitors of the Brandon Center by handling walk-in traffic, phone calls, and ticket system requests servicing the faculty, staff, and students of the School of Education. Additional tasks include but are not limited to checking the equipment, data entry, troubleshooting, and office organization. As a result, candidates for this position should anticipate working with a broad range of users and technology.  

Educational Value

The student will gain experience in customer service while communicating with faculty, students, and staff over the phone, email, and in-person. Additionally, students will gain knowledge of audio/visual equipment, and work in a team environment.

Job Requirements

Excellent communication skills, technical aptitude, willingness to learn and help others, detail-oriented, ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, communicative, outgoing, and dependable.

Desired Qualities: Experience working in a customer service environment. An understanding of television monitor inputs, source selection, and basic troubleshooting. Experience with videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Google Hangouts). Knowledge of different University toolsets such as MPrint, Google Apps, and Canvas is a plus.
