Job Description

We are seeking a graduate student to collaborate with the Curator and Manager of Art in Public Spaces. The responsibilities include:

  • Conducting curatorial research on the University of Michigan's public art collection
  • Researching potential acquisitions and exhibitions
  • Writing and interpreting the collection for the public art website and other interpretive materials
  • Assisting with the inaugural Art and Residence Halls Program
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Educational Value

The educational value of this position includes curatorial and collection experience, learning how an arts organization operates, and building knowledge of university systems. Additionally, it fosters the development of technical skills such as project coordination, research, and public speaking.

Job Requirements
  • Graduate student status
  • Major/minor area of study in the visual arts preferred 

  • Availability to work approximately 15 hours per week 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, meticulous attention to detail, dependable

  • Confident interpersonal skills and a desire to build community

  • Excellent communication skills and able to work independently as well as part of a team 

  • Advanced writing and editing skills

  • Ability to set and manage priorities, handle multiple assignments and deadlines

  • Knowledge of Google Suite applications

Hourly Rate $21.00/hour
Hours 5.0 to 15.0 hours per week
