Job Description
Responsibilies for this position will include a variety of of tasks supporting biological research into genetics, development, and evolutionary biology using fruit flies and yeast. Maintaince of fruit fly stocks will be the primary component of the job, but additional lab support tasks (e.g., making solutions, autoclaving equipment) will also be assigned as time allows.

Educational Value

This job will give students an opportunity to experience working in a biological research setting. Although the primary focus of the role will be supporting research in the group, the student will interact regularly with graduate students and postdocs conducting various types of genetic and genomic experiments in the lab and have an opportunity to participate in formal and informal scientific discussions in the lab group. Past students serving successfully in this role have later transitioned into undergraduate researchers in lab the group.  

Job Requirements

Responsible and reliable; detail-oriented; effective communicator. No prior research experience is required, but having taken a chemistry or biology lab course would be beneficial. Work Study award is preferred

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 8.0 to 10.0 hours per week
