Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

? Various operational tasks, including but not limited to desk coverage, acting as a liaison for facilities related issues, and working in collaboration with other student employees to ensure coverage
? Serving as the primary contact when full-time staff are absent
? Opening and closing the Law Library
? Providing assistance to patrons in-person and over the phone at the central Law Library Information Desk
? Helping patrons locate, check out, and return library materials
? Answering routine questions about facilities, services, and item locations
? Making appropriate referrals to reference staff and other Law School departments
? Keeping accurate statistics about the types of questions received
? Assist in the audit and documentation of the library’s e-resources’ compliance with WCAG AA standards
? Other Library duties as assigned

Students will gain experience working with library policies and procedures, supervising student
employees, interacting with the public, exercising judgment in a controlled environment, in
addition to learning and practicing principles of excellent customer service.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

? Must be able to work Saturday evenings (5pm-10pm) with an option to pick up additional shifts during the week
? Must be responsible, dependable, and approachable
? Must be actively enrolled as a University of Michigan student in a graduate program
? Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and public relations skills
