Job Description

Data and Assessment Careers Intern 

The School of Public Health (SPH) invites applications for the Data and Assessment intern position within the Careers Office, housed within the Office for Student Affairs (OSA). The Careers Office is a team of 4 full-time professionals, and 4 student staff interns that are focused on supporting the career journeys of our graduate and undergraduate students. 

 

Through this position, you will have the opportunity to collect data, contribute to assessment design, and create data reports and visualizations about the Careers Office work. We are seeking a student who is excited about maintaining and organizing data on the daily interactions of the Careers team in addition to the alumni outcomes data and surveys released each year. 

 

This position will be hybrid, with the intern being able to work 40% of their shifts virtually, and 60% in-person in our office at SPH 1 Suite 1700. The position will require 10-12 hours of work per week, with compensation at $18 per hour. The position will be for the academic year Fall 2025 - Winter 2026 with possible extension. 

 

Responsibilities

  • 70% Data Analysis and Assessment: 

    • Post-Graduate and Internship Outcomes Data

      • Contribute to survey development and assessment design regarding SPH post-graduate outcomes and internship outcomes 

      • Collect post-grad outcomes data through online research including LinkedIn and Organization searches

      • Analyze post-graduate and internship outcomes data based on department, student, and career staff needs

      • Develop data reports and visualizations to effectively explain employment outcomes to various stakeholders including departments, university offices, and Public Health Organizations

      • Assist with the creation of an annual Employment Report with detailed information to share with current students and stakeholders

    • Career Services Data

      • Pull reports and gather data from our Career Services platform regarding appointments, event participation numbers, job postings, and employer and student engagement

      • Generate monthly career services reports and visualizations to present to our team and stakeholders

      • Clean employer and employer contact lists in the Careers Gateway monthly to ensure that the most recent and reliable data is available for students

      • Contribute to the coordination of assessments for our various services including appointments, career fairs, workshops, employer events, and Career Peer Action Circles. 

      • Develop data reports and visualizations related to specific events and services offered by our staff

    • Public Health Employment Data

      • Develop reports on Public Health employer hiring trends and share data with careers staff and students

      • Research Public Health employment opportunities across various industries and post relevant positions in the Careers Gateway

 

  • 15% Inbox and Job postings support 

    • All interns are expected to help maintain the SPH Jobs inbox, including posting new internships and jobs to the SPH Careers Gateway 

 

5% Professional development and participation 

Review Process

After the application closes on January 27th, our Career Services staff will review resumes and cover letters and evaluate them according to the “skills & strengths we are seeking” listed above. We will then contact candidates for zoom interviews conducted February 5th-12th. Our interview questions will be based on evaluating candidates’ experience and interests regarding the “skills & strengths we are seeking” listed above. We will provide the interview questions in advance of the interview and provide guidance on how to prepare for interviews. We will make every effort to notify all candidates of a hiring decision by February 24th.
