Job Description

CHRT is a small center with three-dozen staff members who work on dozens of projects that are designed to improve the health of people and communities. Review our 2023 annual report for more information about our work.

The Center for Health and Research Transformation (CHRT) at the University of Michigan seeks a student from the University of Michigan, the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, the School of Public Health, the School of Social Work, or the Ford School to assist with communications. Candidates with interest in behavioral health, social needs, or criminal justice reform are encouraged to apply. Students pursuing a bachelor's degree or a masters degree are encouraged to apply.

The health communications intern will use Constant Contact, WordPress, Canva, Hootsuite, Monday.com, Microsoft Office, and other software systems, as required. On the job training will be provided; however, preexisting knowledge of these or other related software programs and social media vehicles is a plus. The selected candidate will be asked to work up to 15 hours per week, on average. All staff and interns are currently working remotely.

Educational Value
Direct involvement in projects aimed at improving the health of people and communities will provide a deep understanding of public health issues, especially in behavioral health, social needs, and criminal justice reform.
The student will enhance their skills in various communication aspects, including creating content for websites and social media, conducting interviews, engaging in storytelling, and designing effective public relations strategies.
Training on software such as Constant Contact, WordPress, Canva, Hootsuite, Monday.com, and Microsoft Office will develop their digital proficiency, which is a valuable asset in the modern job market.
Overall, the position offers a holistic learning opportunity that blends academic knowledge with practical skills, preparing the student for a future career in public health, health communications, social work, or related fields.
