Market Title: Medical Assistant Temporary

Working Title: Medical Assistant Temporary 

Basic Function and Responsibility

Provide clinic assistance by preparing specimens; operate lab equipment and assisting patients and supporting providers in a complex, multiple physicians’ practice in an adult Urology ambulatory care setting.  Perform routine laboratory support services; maintain stock supplies; maintain orderly clinic environment; perform high level disinfection of urologic equipment according to infection control standards.  Use electronic medical record (EMR), MiChart, enter point of care orders, enter point of care results, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain stock levels in treatment rooms and exam rooms
  • Escort patients
  • Provide clinic assistance by preparing specimens and assisting patients
  • Perform high level disinfection of urologic equipment according to infection control standards
  • Maintain Urology Lab
  • Other duties as assigned

Functional supervision received from Leta Tingle, Medical Assistant Lead.

Administrative management received from Ryan Haywood, Administrative Manager.

Required Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment.
  2. Must have strong organizational, time management and attention to detail skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a very busy setting.
  3. Demonstrated ability to take direction from multiple disciplines.
  4. Demonstrate professional communication and ability to exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, families and members of the healthcare team is required.
  5. Demonstrated problem solving ability
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  7. Demonstrated record of excellent attendance

Desired:

  1. Experience in a medical clinic setting, exposure to clinic operations, physicians, medical assistants, nurses.
  2. Experience in performing various laboratory testing.
Educational Value

This individual will recieve hands on medical experience at one of the most complex outpatient clinics at Michigan Medicine.
