Job Description

Child Protective Services Central Registry Case Reviewer

The Child and Adolescent Data Lab of the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work is an applied research center focused on using a data-driven approach to inform policy and practice decisions in child welfare and juvenile justice. The mission of the Child and Adolescent Data Lab is to harness the power of data to improve outcomes for vulnerable children, adolescents and their families.     

The Case Reviewer will work on a specific project in which they will carefully review child protective services central registry files in order to  determine which cases are to be expunged and which cases will remain on the central registry.

The case reviewer will:

  • Be trained in Child Protective Services (CPS) policies
  • Work alongside Data Lab staff to analyze cases in a timely manner
  • Complete data entry
  • Perform detailed corrections and checks to data entry
  • Meet regularly with other reviewers and supervisor

Interviews starting now and positions starting mid to late September. Reviewers must be able to work both fall and winter semesters and a minimum of 8 hours per week (max 16 hours per week).

ALL WORK WILL BE PERFORMED REMOTELY, but applicants must be able to come to the School of Social Work in person to complete I-9 paperwork.

Job Requirements
  • Undergraduate junior or senior, or graduate student studying Social Work, Psychology, Law, Public Policy or other social sciences related fields
  • Work study preferred
  • Minimum commitment Winter/Spring/Summer semesters
  • Experience and/or interest in working with child welfare
  • Experience with Excel preferred, but not required
Hourly Rate $16.00/hour
Hours 8.0 to 20.0 hours per week
