Job Description

Stamps Pre-College is seeking (4-6) current students to join our staff this summer as Resident Advisors (RAs) to support in-person programming. They will be led by a team of student workers called Pre-College Assistants.

 

Successful candidates will have:

 

  • meaningful prior experience working with teenagers

  • demonstrated passion for community building

  • interest in joining a cohort-based working environment

  • previous camp counselor experience and/or an interest in social work, student support or art therapy, dual majors in art and psychology/social work are strongly encouraged to apply  

 

Resident Advisors play a critical role in the success of the Stamps Pre-College programs. RA’s assist the student participants to ensure their health, safety and success for the duration of their Pre-College experience, provide program support to both the administrative and instructional staff, and commit themselves to their own personal development as leaders.

 

This position is for a temporary appointment from June 9 to August 31. RA’s must reside in the residence hall in a private room throughout the duration of our summer residential programs (July 5 - Aug. 2, 2025) and thus will have room and board provided for them in Baits or Bursley Hall during this program. Please note that these positions are time demanding and RAs will be “on call” throughout our residential programs. Candidates must be available to work for all programs and should indicate their availability in a cover letter.

Job Requirements

Required qualifications 

  • BA/BFA degree  (in progress)

  • At least one completed term at U-M

  • Personal knowledge of the Stamps School of Art & Design and the University of Michigan

  • Respect for diversity and a willingness to learn about other cultures

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team-setting

  • Leadership/mentorship experience in a professional and/or volunteer capacity

  • A positive and caring personal attitude

Hourly Rate $16.00/hour
