Michigan Engineering New Faculty Orientation Program Assistant Job Description How to apply: Please complete and submit your application using this Google Form. A CV is required for consideration for this position. Overview: Michigan Engineering New Faculty Orientation (NFO) Program Assistant will support the launching of the online NFO Canvas Course and delivering the in-person NFO event at the College of Engineering. The Canvas Course will be launched in late July. The in-person orientation day is on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 (8:00-5:00 pm). Specific tasks are shown below. Qualifications: Enrolled in a graduate program in engineering, engineering education, or STEM-related field Experience with Microsoft Office programs, Google Apps (e.g. spreadsheets, documents, etc.), Experience with learning management systems, especially Canvas, Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills, Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner, and to work both independently and as part of a collaborative group, Experience with event or program planning is desirable.
Hours: March 1 – May 31= 1-5 hours / week June 1 – August 26 = 7-10 hours / week August 12-15, 2025: requires in-person preparation for the event August 19, 2025: 8 am - 6 pm, requires a full-day in-person event support
August 27 – September 7 = 5-7 / week September 8 – September 22 = 1-5 / week
Specific Tasks: Assist CRLT-Engin staff with revising materials for NFO Canvas Course updates (specific focus on content related to GenAI and digital accessibility) Assist CRLT-Engin staff in reviewing materials for NFO in-person gatherings and offering feedback Assist CRLT-Engin staff with administrative tasks related to the New Faculty Orientation Support event planning activities for the in-person NFO event Coordinate the virtual consultation designed for new faculty at the beginning of the Fall semester Conduct literature reviews to support CRLT-Engin programming (GenAI, digital accessibility, etc.) Engage in data analysis by summarizing the NFO Canvas Course and In-person event evaluations.
Compensation: $28.00/hour, no benefits (e.g., no health insurance, retirement, or tuition waiver) |
