Job Description

The Digital Media Commons (DMC) at the James and Anne Duderstadt Center is hiring up to two talented student journalists/writers to serve as Communications Assistants on our team. The primary role of the Communications Assistants will be to interview faculty, staff, and students to write both feature-length and short new stories and profiles for the Duderstadt Center website, newsletter, and other marketing and media materials. Other responsibilities may include posting on Duderstadt Center social media profiles, taking and editing photographs, and posting and editing web content using WordPress.

Located in the Duderstadt Center on North Campus, the Digital Media Commons provides the U-M community with access to evolving technologies supported by experienced and passionate staff. Required Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with journalistic writing and interviewing 

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and creatively 

  • Ability to meet weekly deadlines

Hourly Rate $17.00/hour to $20.00/hour
Hours 10.0 to 15.0 hours per week
