Job Description |
To assist with the launch of the Center for Community Archaeology and Heritage. Graduate students will assist with developing a website for the Center, hosting a conference in March, working on the publication of papers from the conference, and developing a grant application to support the Center. |
Educational Value |
This role offers graduate students an opportunity to gain practical experience in academic project management, public engagement, and professional development through the launch of the Center for Community Archaeology and Heritage. Students will develop a range of skills that will be valuable in both academic and applied settings, including: - Project Development & Management – Gain experience in website creation and content management, learning how to effectively communicate research and outreach initiatives to diverse audiences.
- Conference Planning & Event Coordination – Assist with organizing a March conference, refining skills in event logistics, professional networking, and academic programming.
- Scholarly Publishing & Editing – Work on the publication of conference papers, developing editing, formatting, and research dissemination skills essential for academic careers.
- Grant Writing & Research Funding – Contribute to a grant application to support the Center, gaining hands-on experience in funding proposals, budgeting, and persuasive writing.
- Communication & Public Engagement – Strengthen verbal and written communication skills by working with faculty, researchers, and the broader community to promote the Center’s mission.
- Collaboration & Teamwork – Engage with interdisciplinary scholars and professionals, fostering skills in teamwork, leadership, and community-based research.

Job Requirements |
- Must be a current graduate student interested in archaeology, anthropology, history, museum studies, or a related field.
- Strong interest in community engagement, public archaeology, and heritage preservation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for website content development, conference coordination, and grant writing.
- Proficiency with digital tools for website development is desirable but not required.
