Job Description

Job Summary 

 

The Stamps School of Art & Design Pre-College Program is looking for Instructional Assistants (IAs) to join our staff this spring. 

 

Instructional Assistants play a critical role in the success of the Stamps Pre-College Program. IAs support Instructors in the classroom by helping with all aspects of instruction in a studio setting. This includes but is not limited to, running errands, studio maintenance, setting up and cleaning up the classroom, demonstrating techniques / processes and helping to produce student work. IAs will engage with all student participants by providing personal guidance on projects and constructive feedback during critique. 

 

Instructional Assistants are responsible for the health and safety of all participants in the classroom and work in concert with the Pre-College team to cultivate a supportive and creative learning environment. Instructional Assistants administer University of Michigan policy, Stamps Pre-College policy and observe the Stamps Pre-College schedule. 

 

Stamps Pre-College is seeking Instructional Assistants to support the following studio program; Ceramic Fundamentals.

Program Descriptions

Ceramic Fundamentals (In-Person Studio / 10 Sessions)

 

  • May 6 - June 5, 2025

  • Tuesday & Thursdays, 4:00-6:30 pm ET

  • An in-person program in which students will explore various methods of creating with clay to produce functional and expressive forms. Students will receive an introduction to creative works and technical processes as they relate to contemporary art. This program will focus on hand-building techniques including coiling, slab-building, surface application with slip and glaze.

Background Screening:

This is a temporary position that is contingent upon completion of required criminal background screening, as specified in SPG 601.34 (Policy on Minors Involved in University-Sponsored Programs or Programs Held in University Facilities).

Job Requirements
  • BA/BFA degree (completed or in progress)

Hourly Rate $25.00/hour
