Job Description

We support all of the chemistry teaching laboratories, which operate 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. We are NOT open nights and weekends. 

The Chemistry Teaching Lab Support team is divided into three areas: 1) general material and operational support, 2) chemical dispensing, and 3) analytical/biochemistry support. Lab Assistants are not required to work in all areas, Assignments will depend on experience and areas of interest.

Typical lab assistant tasks include:

  • Perform general cleaning and lab maintenance tasks.
  • Provide timely and accurate service to students during lab sessions.
  • Prepare and distribute chemicals, instrumentation, and supplies to the teaching labs.
  • Assist in collecting data from students’ samples using various instrumentation.
  • Perform lab and stockroom maintenance
  • Assist staff with other tasks as assigned.
Educational Value

 

This position offers the student an opportunity to work in and around functioning laboratories. They will learn the proper use of lab apparatus, supplies, and chemicals, and the administration, operation, and maintenance of laboratories.

Job Requirements
We will work with you to construct flexible schedules around your coursework.  
 
Lab assistants must be dependable and punctual with a desire to learn about chemistry laboratory support work.  All teaching lab support staff are required to follow property chemical and laboratory safety practices, per the provided training.

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 2.0 to 10.0 hours per week
